April's Adventure: Loch Trool, Scotland

No, it's not The Adirondacks, but it's outside and it's quiet. Next month the editorial staff of the T and P will spend a much needed week in Southern Scotland. In the 1300's, Robert the Bruce won a small battle against the English there. I hope to use the area to launch my revolution against the English as well. It will involve the introduction of salt and flavored food into their diets. They'll never know what hit them.

Friend, bring a part of me with you on your journey to Scotland...
Travel to Stirling. To the south nestled between the village proper and the University, you'll find an 85 meter tall monument to William Wallace (Braveheart guy). Climb 240+ steps to the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Have a quite pipe in reflection of history and for your homies. There, scatter the ashes to the breeze.

After that, travel to the University, where you'll find a decent sized Loch. On the southeastern bank of the Loch, you will find an old, bent tree overlooking the still waters. One single bough will dip toward the ground in invitation. Climb. When you are firmly tucked in the arm of the tree, run your hand along the limb to where it meets the trunk. There you will find a small, but deep, recess. Search there, in the dark, for an item that has been left for you, many years before.
